Opus 33 Aumentare della Lune di Saturno

Saturn

Opus 33
Aumentare della Lune di Saturno
Rising of the Moons of Saturn

veoh
Approx. Time: 25 minutes, 21 seconds

Description:
This orchestral work centers upon one of the largest planets in our solar system, Saturn. The layers of Saturn's beautiful rings find many smaller moons nestled within them. We found several pictures of Saturn on the World Wide Web to draw creative inspiration from as we worked on the draft.

The work is dedicated to two favorite vocal music teachers from our high school years: Lana Babcock taught at West Platte High School, Weston, Missouri and is now retired. Donna Lou Piper was directing the chorus at North Kansas City High School when we graduated in 1972. Both of these women are fantastic musicians and were highly competent educators. They each saw something “special” with our budding skill as a musician and mentored the rather lost-looking foster child being moved through a series of six foster homes during his high school years. We love and miss both of them.

The music is divided into several movements:

Preludio: Saturno Maestoso
(Prelude: Majestic Saturn)

Galleggiando attraverso gli anelli....
(Floating across the rings....)

I. Luna: Pan
(I. Moon: Pan)

Galleggiando attraverso gli anelli....
(Floating across the rings....)

II. Luna: Daphnis
(II. Moon: Daphnis)

Galleggiando attraverso gli anelli....
(Floating across the rings....)

III. Luna: Atlas
(III. Luna: Atlas)

Galleggiando attraverso gli anelli....
(Floating across the rings....)

Saturno Maestoso
(Majestic Saturn)
